This January recruitment period proves to be a period of feverish speculation and possible big-money transfers. Several high-profile footballers are being connected to transfers away from their present teams. We examine some of the key names who are poised to be on the move in January.

A. Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to reach the AFCON, which has kept the forward in contention, reports suggest a significant transfer is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal with a £65 million release clause active for a two-week period at the start of the month. Recent reports indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his signature. Former suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have moved on to alternative targets, leaving teams like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a late move.

Marc Guéhi

The England centre-back has continued to impress for Palace despite a previous move to Anfield collapsing. With his deal set to expire in the close season, this represents the London club's final opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous top clubs, including City and multiple European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a January exit remains unlikely, particularly given the coach's reliance on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales forward has had first-team opportunities limited at Tottenham this campaign. Although finishing as the club's top scorer last season, Johnson has begun just a small number of Premier League games. It is understood the North London outfit is open to a sale for the right valuation, thought to be in the around forty million pounds. Bournemouth appear to be leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally showing an inquiry.

Tottenham value the Welsh international at approximately forty million pounds.

R. Neves

The Portugal midfielder could be set for a comeback to the English top flight after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, and with his contract ending in the summer of 2026, he is a possible opportunity. Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool are linked with the player. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spanish media that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran German shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barcelona under new manager Flick. Having fallen out of favour and undergone an operation, a January departure looks increasingly likely. Villa were initially mentioned as a possible suitor, but that option now appears unlikely. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

The prolific England centre-forward has kept scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might boost his dwindling chances of being in the England World Cup. However, arranging a transfer poses major hurdles. His current club are reluctant to sell him, and his alleged huge weekly wages make any agreement difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

C. Gallagher

Kenan Yildiz

This exciting Turkish forward has been in fine form for the Italian giants this season. With his existing deal nearing its end, a host of Premier League clubs – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are monitoring the developments. Juventus are eager to secure the youngster to a new long-term contract but face a race to keep one of the continent's most promising prospects.

Kees Smit

The much-admired Netherlands midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. After impressing at the U19 Euros, Smit has become a regular in the AZ side. The teenager is widely expected to make a major move in January. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing priced at around £22 million.
